Finding Inspiration
I find inspiration for content in a variety of different ways. I find I’m more creative when I’m in nature - so I try to take a lot of walks and listen to a podcast while doing it. Not only am I changing my physical state, I am also challenging my mental state. The combination of this boosts my creativity ten fold. Below is a list of my go-to podcasts for all things business and content creation. I also look to film, television, books and other social media channels for inspiration. Find my favorite books, here. Pinterest is also a great resource to find ideas for location, composition, posing, lighting etc.
When planning ahead for a shoot, I recommend creating a secret board on Pinterest with your photographer or anyone who is helping style the shoot. This is to ensure you all have a cohesive vision and vibe for the shoot and so that the photographer can get a feel for the type of lens and equipment to bring along. You can also reference this if you get stumped for ideas on site.

1. Lighting
Photography literally translates to drawing with light. Lighting is hugely important when it comes to the technical success of a photoshoot. The best times to shoot are usually early morning or sunset because the light isn’t as harsh. If you are shooting in the middle of the day (when the sun is harshest), try to find shade where you subject is evenly lit. If you nail the light at the front end of production, it will be easier to select and edit the images you want to use in post-production.
If you are modeling, pay attention to where the light source is. Decide if you want to be directly lit (facing the sun) or back lit (sun behind you).
2. Posing & Camera Angle
How you pose and where the camera is in relation to you can drastically change the mood and look of your photo. Are you short? Have your photographer shoot you from a low angle, where your legs are closer to the camera. Anything closer to the lens will appear larger and longer. Did you know I’m only 5’4”? I have camera angles to thank for appearing taller.
Practice different poses in front of a mirror before getting on set. Know the angles that make you feel confident and express that to your photographer. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will become in front of the lens. More on this to come.

Did you know there is a difference between an influencer and a content creator? These two terms are often used interchangeably, but we believe there are definite differences that make each one unique. Understanding the differences will allow you to identify how to effectively lean into your strengths, promote your skills, and pitch to brands to get sponsored deals. Let’s break it down.
Content Creator:
Content Creators utilize their creativity to create aspiring, high-quality imagery that their audiences look up to. For example, content creators will photograph an outfit, might tag the brands in the post, but in the end, the focus is on the visual. These types of digital marketers are great for spreading brand awareness to various demographics. Their imagery has the potential to go viral with its quality and imagination. Content Creators also have the ability to create content for a brand’s campaign to use on the company’s channels.

Leadership isn’t a role - it’s a combination of qualities and characteristics that can be learned, even if you aren’t a boss. Why is that important? Leadership creates an environment to develop strong teams and morale and in the end inspires individuals and teams to realize their full potential, and thus work efficiently and achieve a shared goal. If you can harness your leadership skills now, you can have a team of colleagues that rallies around you, cheers you on, and respects your decisions.
Leadership can differ between people, so it’s important to lean into your natural strengths and develop leadership skills that are aligned with those aptitudes. For instance, you might excel in risk-taking and decisive decision-making, while someone else might show talent in empathy and listening.
Here are some ways you can practice being a leader in your current role, so you can inspire those around you, get noticed, and get promoted.
